Bowfishing 101
July 18-19, 2008 Jenny Wiley Resort
The Bowfishing 101 Team arrived Jenny Wiley Resort around noon on Friday 7-18-08. We where greeted by the recreation department employee's and shown where to set-up for the meet-n-great that would take place that evening. The Resort had received several enquires about the Bowfishing 101 Seminar, and where excited to be offering this Free Training opportunity to the guest that where staying at their resort for the weekend. Friday evening we set-up display tables in the main lobby of the Resort. On display where all the different types of equipment that today's bowfishing enthusiast would be using on their bowfishing outings. Everyone picked up copy's of the Bowfishing Equipment catalogs that we had put out that where provided by the Support Groups major bowfishing equipment Sponsors.

After enjoying a very nice buffet style breakfast in the Lodge dinning room on Saturday morning, the Training Team was ready for a busy day. The Seminar started around 9:15 am with men, women and youth all eager to learn about the sport of bowfishing. All during the classroom portion of the training individuals would ask great questions about all the different types of equipment that is being used to hunt fish with. The Training Team would show and explain the different types of bows, arrows and reels that are being used by today's bowfishing enthusiasts.
We took a lunch break around 11:30 am and told everyone that would like to go out on on the lake to meet us at the launching ramp around 1:00 pm. This would give them a hand's on look at actually shooting at Rough Fish with a Bow & Arrow. The Eastern Kentucky lake that we where fishing in was very clear, and the fish where deep. So a lot of shots where taken, but no fish where harvested on Saturday afternoon. I must have said Aim Lower 50 times that afternoon.
We all had a good time, and everyone stated that they learned a lot about the sport of bowfishing. I would like to personally thank Jenny Wiley Resort for hosting the Bowfishing 101 Event, and providing the Training Team with a very nice training facility.
